A Vision for Renewal
Situated within the iconic Parque de Mayo, the gastronomic pavilion in Bahía Blanca stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to revitalizing its public spaces. Designed by BRA – Bernardo Rosello Arquitectura, the intervention breathes new life into a historic site, transforming a deteriorating structure into a vibrant culinary destination.
Honoring the Past
The project embraces the rich heritage of Parque de Mayo by repurposing existing gastronomic stalls, preserving their architectural character while addressing the need for modern amenities. By integrating services such as bathrooms, kitchen facilities, and storage into the restored structure, the design honors the park’s history while meeting the demands of contemporary users.
Sustainable Innovation
Central to the design ethos is a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. A modular system of metal vertical panels covers the restored structure, providing both visual cohesion and flexibility for future adaptations. This approach ensures that any new additions to the park can be easily removed, minimizing disruption to the surrounding landscape.
Modular Adaptability
The pavilion’s prefabricated modules, constructed from UPN profiles, tubes, and metal angles, offer a versatile solution for future development. Designed to align seamlessly with the existing landscape, these modular structures can be relocated with minimal impact on the terrain, allowing for the park’s continued evolution while preserving its natural beauty.
Integration with Nature
Positioned amidst a verdant forest, the pavilion’s modular strips seek harmony with the surrounding environment. By weaving through the trees and orienting towards the nearby stream and pedestrian promenade, the structures enhance the park’s natural charm while providing shaded areas for visitors to enjoy.
A Testament to Collaboration
The success of the gastronomic pavilion is a testament to the collaborative efforts of architects, craftsmen, and local stakeholders. By marrying architectural innovation with a deep respect for history and nature, Bahía Blanca’s Parque de Mayo continues to be a cherished oasis for residents and visitors alike.
