Embracing Nature’s Harmony: Minimal Footprint Design
In the serene landscape of Chandod, India, EssTeam Design Services has seamlessly integrated educational architecture with nature in the creation of Oasis Valleys Institute. Spanning approximately 7 acres of hilly terrain, the architectural marvel emphasizes a minimal footprint, minimizing environmental impact. The rectangular block, measuring 12 m x 80 m, aligns North-South within the valley, respecting the natural flow of rainwater through the adjacent ravines of River Narmada. The building comprises two key elements: Workshops and Residential Spaces, interconnected by a captivating five-story atrium. The unique design encourages interaction across different levels, fostering a dynamic educational environment. Visitors experience a paradigm shift upon entry, symbolizing the institute’s commitment to character-building education.
Character Education Manifested in Architecture
Dedicated to character education, Oasis Valleys Institute embodies the core values of Paradigm Shift, Integrity, Pro-action, and Love. EssTeam Design Services translated these principles into the architectural language, starting with reforesting the barren land with over 5000 trees. The material palette, featuring exposed concrete and clay brick, reflects transparency and simplicity. Kotah stone, a basic flooring material, unifies the interiors. Programmatically, the institute encompasses two workshop halls, guest rooms, dormitories, and essential facilities for cooking, dining, and sanitation.
Sustainability at Every Stage
The institute strives for sustainability at every turn. The strategic orientation within the tree-filled valley naturally shades the building, enhancing thermal comfort. The cavity wall structure further contributes to temperature regulation. Solar water heaters fulfill bathing water needs, while Bio-Compost and Vermi-Compost plants convert waste into valuable manure. Resource conservation is prioritized, incorporating second-quality paver blocks and discarded reinforcing steel for pathways and railings. A minimalistic approach to paint minimizes VOCs. Rainwater harvesting and percolation wells manage water resources efficiently. The building maximizes natural daylight, minimizing reliance on mechanical ventilation, such as air conditioners. Water-efficient faucets and flushing devices underline the commitment to sustainable practices.
Conclusion: A Harmonious Blend of Education and Sustainability
Oasis Valleys Institute stands as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of educational pursuits and sustainable architecture. EssTeam Design Services, through their thoughtful design, not only crafted an institute aligned with character-building principles but also integrated environmental responsibility into every facet of the structure. This project serves as an inspiration, showcasing the potential for educational spaces to embrace nature and sustainability seamlessly.
