The Residence Kongkaherb project, spearheaded by V2in Architects, stems from the need to expand the facilities of Kongkaherb while simultaneously accommodating the owner’s vision of creating a new home for the next generation. Reflecting on the company’s humble beginnings in a small commercial building that doubled as a residence, warehouse, and shop front, the owner sought to recreate the familiar home office atmosphere within the new structure.
Designing for Efficiency: Overcoming Site Challenges
From an architectural standpoint, the site posed challenges with its asymmetric layout and limited space, making efficient utilization a priority. The solution devised by the project architect involved designing each function separately, considering size specifications, and arranging them into individual boxes. These components were then seamlessly integrated into the angles and setbacks of the site, resulting in a cohesive yet functional design.
Embracing Simplicity: Aesthetic and Functional Integration
The exterior of the building exudes simplicity, characterized by a clean white façade adorned with insulated glass panels. The emphasis on simplicity extends to the interior, with modern and tidy aesthetics prevailing throughout. Each floor features a tree court, promoting a contemporary herb atmosphere while enhancing the overall ambiance of the space.
Innovative Structures: The Role of Cantilevers
Central to the design concept is the incorporation of cantilevered structures, providing open spaces underneath and adding visual interest to the building’s silhouette. Remaining spaces are dedicated to lush courtyards, allowing for the cultivation of greenery and facilitating natural ventilation and sunlight penetration into the interior spaces.
Zoning Strategy: Seamlessly Integrating Work and Living Spaces
The building’s layout reflects a clear zoning strategy, with office areas occupying the lower floors and residential quarters located on the upper levels. The reception area, situated on the third and fourth floors, serves as a transition between the public and private realms, ensuring a seamless flow between work and leisure spaces.
Promoting Connectivity: Transparent Design Elements
Moreover, the design promotes transparency and connectivity, with clear glass partitions and courtyards allowing for visual connections between different areas of the building. Executive rooms are strategically positioned to facilitate communication with staff, fostering a sense of openness and collaboration.
In summary, Residence Kongkaherb embodies a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics, seamlessly integrating work and living spaces to cater to the evolving needs of its occupants. Through thoughtful design interventions, V2in Architects has created a modern sanctuary that fosters productivity, creativity, and well-being.
