Introduction
Nestled within the enchanting landscape of Hacienda Xcanatún, the Spa Hacienda Xcanatún by Angsana Heritage Collection emerges as a testament to architectural finesse and environmental harmony. Designed by Taller Mexicano de Arquitectura, this spa seamlessly integrates into the natural beauty of its surroundings, offering a sanctuary of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Design Concept
The design premise of the spa was to create a structure that would interact respectfully with the physical and natural environment of the hacienda. Located on the edge of the main pond, a linear pavilion with a horizontal foundation was conceived to establish a human scale and provide privacy to the spa program while complementing the existing amenities of the hotel and real estate project.
Architectural Elements
The pavilion comprises four fundamental elements: a metal structure that articulates the building, stone and chukúm volumes housing the spa program, a flat cantilevered slab providing horizontality and protection, and a blind cylindrical module that adds intrigue to the design. Each space within the building offers views of the surrounding gardens and estate, ensuring a harmonious connection with nature.
Material Selection
Great care was taken in selecting materials to ensure low maintenance and a seamless integration with the hacienda’s architecture. Structural steel, regional stone, marble floors, flattened chukum, local woods such as cedar and tzalam, as well as aluminum and glass, were predominantly used, enhancing the spa’s aesthetic appeal while honoring its natural setting.
Conclusion
With its thoughtful design and meticulous attention to detail, the Spa Hacienda Xcanatún stands as a symbol of architectural excellence and environmental stewardship. As guests immerse themselves in its serene ambiance, they embark on a journey of relaxation, renewal, and connection with the pristine beauty of Hacienda Xcanatún.
